Hx Innovations is a human movement analytics and testing company with a vision to optimize lower limb movement and performance so athletes can all live healthy and active lives. Hx Innovations’ software utilizes a patent-pending technique for analyzing human muscle movement and joint activity. Their software can scan for muscle stability, balance, fatigue and joint movement. This data can be used to help prevent injuries, improve training, and increase performance.
In this project, I took the role of the UI/UX designer, working closely with a project manager to conduct a discover meeting with the client, understanding their wants and needs. I then designed user flows, wireframes, a clickable prototype, and finally a high fidelity design of one of the dashboard screens.
Hx Innovations was delivering this data to athletes through manual reporting and a printable PDF. This was a laborious process to gather and present the data, export it to PDF, then email it to the end user. Early traction in the Hx teams’ sales process led to a long queue of teams lining up to have scans done. They needed a way to bring this data into a dashboard for both players and teams to view. This dashboard would eliminate the manual process of creating reports and reduce the turnaround time for eager teams and players to see how they performed.
Our goal was to bring this data into a clear, concise, and easy to understand dashboard for both athletes and non-athletes. During the discovery phase, we took time to understand what data was most important to highlight, what was purely information, and how to display performance trends. Additionally, we wanted to provide actionable insights for athletes to help them prevent further risk or injury.
The new team dashboard provides analysis for coaches or trainers to review analytics of athletes tested within a league or team. We displayed all players tested by score, demographic rank, and overall rank. Trainers can also see a risk report for each athlete. Clicking on an individual player name displays the player profile, which can be exported to PDF, replacing the manual process completely.
